Sermon Library Now Available On-Line

Church of the Messiah is pleased to announce that we now have a library of recent sermons available on our web-site.  Sermons from the last six weeks including a sermon by Archbishop Charles Jones and sermons by Fathers Paysinger and Looker are available. These sermons include the messages from Pentecost, Graduation Sunday, and Fathers’ Day.  We look forward to adding more sermons by Bishop David Epps, and Fathers Paysinger and Melanson in the near future.  You may visit the sermon library by clicking “Sermon Library” in the top left corner of the web-site (under the icon of the family and the cross) or by clicking HERE.  Listen to what God has done over the last few weeks and then join us on Sunday morning and watch what He will do next!

COM’s Men’s Ministry to Attend Jacksonville Sharks Game June 23rd

Saturday, June 23, the Men’s Ministry of Church of the Messiah will be going to watch the Jacksonville Sharks, our defending Arena Football League champions, take on the Cleveland Gladiators.  We will meet at Chicago Pizza in the Jacksonville Landing at five o’clock and then heading over to Veterans’ Memorial Arena for the seven o’clock kick off.  Come for dinner, come for the game, or join us for both.  Tickets are $24 and we need to know who is attending the game in advance so we can get seats together.  See James Luck or Greg McGrew for more information.

Change of Venue This Sunday

This weekend is one of Jacksonville University’s annual summer events.  That means that it is one of the few times in the year we need to temporarily relocate.  This Sunday only, we will be meeting in the Gooding Auditorium.  (Click HERE for a newly updated map!)  The time will not change.  Services begin at 10:30.  We will be celebrating Fathers’ Day so we will see you there!

This Tuesday is North Florida’s Monthly Ultreya

This Tuesday night, June 12, is Church of the Messiah’s monthly Ultreya.  An Ultreya is a reunion gathering for anyone who has attended a Tres Arroyos weekend or another similar four-day retreat (like Cursillo, Walk to Emmaus, Via de Christo, etc…).  We will have a fellowship meal, time for grouping, brief lay and clergy talks, and conclude with the Holy Eucharist.  The Ultreya will be at the home of Greg and Diane Looker (click for MAP).  Dinner begins at 6pm and the meeting begins at 7pm.  Feel free to bring a side dish to go along with the ham the Lookers are providing.  Be sure to RSVP to 904-221-7550 in order to make it easier to get through the gate.

Arrangements for Deborah Templeman

As you may have heard, on Wednesday, May 9, Deborah Templeman died of severe kidney failure. The viewing will be Friday, May 18, at Hargage-Giddens on St. John’s Bluff (click for MAP) from six o’clock to eight o’clock in the evening. The following morning, Saturday, May 19, the funeral service will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church (click for MAP) at ten o’clock. The service will be jointly officiated by Fathers William Jordan and David Paysinger.

Give to the departed eternal rest, O Father;
May light perpetual shine upon them.

Ultreya Cancelled

Due to unforeseen circumstances, this month’s Ultreya meeting has been cancelled. The monthly fellowship will resume on June 12.
